英悟道

For those studying for the First-grade Eiken, I believe it is important to know what enhances the quality of life, one of the topics of 1 Kyu Speaking Test. Most people attach importance to health, money, income, and family, but I strongly believe that it is equally important for us to have personal goals for self-actualization, or the Do spirit（道精神）. That is the essence of Japanese culture reflected in 柔道、剣道、弓道、華道、茶道、even “英悟道” I established, which will maximize our potential, broaden our cultural horizons, and heighten our awareness of life.
Especially for those studying for the 1 Kyu Speaking Test, I stress the importance of the three virtues, “智・勇・仁”. “智” means “wisdom and awareness of social problems and mission”（etymologically, 「天命を知る」）. “勇” means “courage and perseverance”. “仁” means “benevolence and friendship”. In order to make a good speech and an argument on whatever social and personal topics(whether it’s euthanasia or capital punishment) or make great efforts to pass the exam, you need to develop your character, which means having “勇” based on 智”and “仁”. In my case, my serious English study has contributed greatly toward my heightened awareness of life and character development. English study is a long time endeavor, perhaps a lifetime endeavor to attain spiritual enlightenment.　
Now I am honored to teach the Step 1 course at Aquaries School of Communication, which I do believe is one of the highest academic institutions in the world. I strongly believe that those eager to pass or get a high score on the Step 1 Speaking Test will learn a lot from my E-learning lecture on Argument Training in the “英検1級突破の極意と大特訓” or the Speaking Test Preparation Course designed to develop argumentation and critical thinking abilities(please refer to the syllabus). Through the training in the next term of the Step 1 Speaking Preparation Course, you will learn to be able to discuss the following social and philosophical topics.
